We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Simulating flow through porous media with VOF model – Ansys Fluent

      Hello,

I have been trying to simulate resin infusion process (transient) where I use VOF model for simulating the resin flow front, but when I choose the VOF model, I can choose the fraction of porosity but not the permeability values. Hence to mimic the porous flow I use Darcy's law (which Ansys uses too in other cases) to create a source term (- (viscosity / permeability) * velocity)
for momentum to restrict the flow and use the permeability through this, but the issue is, the time step size is directly proportional to the permeability value I put in the source term and the permeability value which I should use is very low so the time step is very low (in 1e-10 order) which is making it impossible to simulate the flow even for few seconds. Is there a better way of doing this or any work around?

      Any help is highly appreciated.

      Thanks for your time!

Have a look at Eulerian and the Corey model options.
