SubscriberWhy people avoid using shell solid together for simulating structure?
I have a ship structure, where I want use some part to be solid & rest as shell.
But with my knowledge, I found difficulty connecting both these elements (shell and solid together)?
Would like know if it's feasible to have both elements in structure?
How should I proceed and what things I need to be careful about doing fea in case of assembly which has both elements ?
Please guide

Ansys EmployeeHi
below are some posts that talk about this (so use MPC type bonded contact in mechanical).
Search also on thinetent there are quite a few posts I would imagine since this is asked often.
Finally see the help manual (search for : Modeling a Shell-Solid Assembly)
All the best
Erik
