SubscriberI am currently using an academic research version of ANSYS Mechanical. I want to share my license with one of my students so that either of us can use it whenever necessary. However, I have ANSYS installed in my laptop and the student will use ANSYS in his laptop which means we are not on the same network. So, can you please explain how we can share the license between our computers i.e. what the student should do on his side and what should be done on my side. I have installed 2021R2 version in my laptop with the license manager. Both of them are currently running in my laptop. The student has also downloaded and installed 2021R2 version of ANSYS Mechanical along with the license manager, but none of them are running since he doesn't have a license file. Let me know what are the next steps.

First your laptop and the student's laptop must be able to see each other on the network
Your laptop must be available on the network at all times the student wishes to run.
The student would perform the following on their machine:
Run:
Start->All Programs->Ansys 2021 R2-> ANSYS Client Licensing Settings 2021 R2
RIGHT-CLICK->More->run as administrator <- IMPORTANT
Then Input the hostname of your laptop in the Server 1 field
Click on Save
The Student should then be able to check licenses out from your laptop
