Share Topology in Ansys Spaceclaim and Design Modeler

      Hi,

I am starting a Fluent simulation in Ansys. I have a CAD file that I imported in the Geometry as a STEP file, and then shared topology in Spaceclaim. However, in the Meshing, I still see contact regions automatically generated under the connections. I don't understand why this is happening as I assumed share topology would merge the different components of the model and treat it as a single body. Could someone explain what is going on? Also, would it affect the simulation if I delete the automatically generated contact regions in Meshing?

Also, is there any relation between 'Coincident Tolerance' under Share tool in Spaceclaim and 'Tolerance Value' under the contacts in connections in Meshing? How do I optimise these values?

I have tried sharing topology through both - Spaceclaim and Design Modeler, but contact regions are still generating in the coonections in Meshing.

Check if the contact is caused by poor/failed Share Topology or faces in relatively close proximity. The automatic detection is a feature that Mechanical uses extensively and it can cause problems in CFD models where just have things that are close together. Click on the contact ID in the tree and it should highlight what it thinks are the face pair.

The tolerance is likely covered in the documentation, but I don't think I've ever changed it from default.
