Seeking help from experts, related to optimization design of HFSS, setting optim

Suppose my optimization variables are a, b, c, and then there is a variable s that does not participate in the optimization.

Next, I need to set an optimization goal to maximize output(s1)-output(s2). The optimization goal set in HFSS seems to only be the calculated value of a set of optimization variables in a single sweep.

I’m not sure if I’ve made myself clear. Or to give an example, the optimization variables are (a, b, c), the non-optimization variable is s, and the optimization goal is the difference in S21 peak values calculated when s is s1 and s2, respectively. Find the set of (a, b, c) with the largest difference.

In the optimization goal setting that comes with HFSS, you can only fix the non-optimization variable to a certain value, and then iterate through different (a, b, c).

I tried adding Parameter Analysis during the optimization process, but I was unable to construct their difference when setting the goal.

Do I need to use MATLAB in conjunction with this? Or is there a way to let HFSS iterate through all situations once and then export the data for me to solve separately?

(I am simulating the different dielectric perturbations of coaxial resonators, and I want to make the resonator sensitive to changes in the dielectric constant of the dielectric. These principles are not important, just to explain.)

      Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Ansys Learning Forum. Your patience on this issue is much appreciated.

I am confused by your statements. The optimization tries to achieve the goal by changing the variables specified. In your case, you are stating that "s" has to be changed during optimization without including it in optimization. This is not possible.

However, you can do two optimization setups separately - with the two values of "s" and then see the difference in the attained result after the optimization.

For more detailed information on optimization, please refer "Setting Up an Optimization Analysis" section of the HFSS help document available under the Help menu.

      Best regards,
      Praneeth.
