SubscriberHello,
I'm trying to run the CHARGE when optical generation rate is imported.Â
Â
First, I ran several silicon solar cell examples (planar and pillar) linked below.
Planar silicon solar cell – Ansys Optics
3D pillar silicon solar cell – Ansys Optics
Vertical photodetector – Ansys Optics
And there was no problem running FDTD and CHARGE of the examples whether it was imported the optical generation rate.
Â
However, my CHARGE was continuously stopped during the initializing step when the optical generation rate was imported.
(The program terminated due to an error: Initialization failed to converge charge update. For instructions on how to troubleshoot this issue, please refer to this: online reference)
The structure is 0.1x0.1x1um Si substrate with 10 nm Al2O3 film (FDTD) and 1 um length Si substrate with anode and cathode (CHARGE).
I used an analysis group of vertical photodetector example for exporting optical generation rate from my FDTD.
What makes the initializing step difficult in my simulation when the optical generation is imported?

Ansys EmployeeYou have 10nm object in 1um device. It needs much smaller edge length, and many more iteration to converge the meshing. You may need to increase the max refine step, and reduce the triangle quality:
Most likely it is not due to the import. You can try without the import and see if the mesh can be generated.
