      Hi everyone,

could anyone guid me through obtaining the coordinates of particles deposited on a wall in a Rocky DEM simulation ?

      Thank you,

      Mahdi.

You should be able to report contacts if you turn the option on, but you may then need to filter by boundary-particle to get the ones you want. Rocky training should be on the AIS next year, in the meantime, check in Rocky's Help system for more details.

      Hi Rob,

I have activated the boundary contact option but it gives statistical results.

      Thank you,

      Mahdi.

Not sure, I'm a little stuck as I can't share non-public tutorials, and can't see the option either. I'll try and get one of the Rocky team to comment as it should be simple.

      Hello,

The option you are looking for is the one to collect contact information (under Contacts in the data tree), not collision statistics. After you do that, you can create a property filter on the Contacts item in the data tree and filter the contacts from the boundary to the particles. Then, you right-click this new property filter and point to Contact to Particles. That should give you the particles that are in contact with that specific wall. Finally, you just gotta look at the Properties list of this Contacts to Particles entity and get the coordinates.

Look for the highlighted keywords in the User Manual and you will find additional information.

      Best regards.
