SubscriberHello esteemed Ansys users,
While trying to perform a multi-objective optimization in RMxprt, I have encountered an issue and would appreciate your support on this matter.
Within the RMxprt module in Ansys Electronics, I designed a motor by selecting the "IPM Synchronous Machine" type from the "Generic Rotating Machines" toolbox. I then created a setup from the "Analysis" tab, ran the necessary simulations, and viewed the results using the design sheet option.
Afterwards, I parametrized several motor parameters, such as the stator outer diameter and the stack length. I carefully defined the parameter ranges so that the motor geometry would not be distorted. Then, using the "Optimization" section under the Optimetrics tool, I selected the "Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (Random-search)" method. I defined the following objective functions:
StatorSlotFillFactorParameter
InducedVoltageperUnitParameter
EfficiencyParameter
FullLoadStatorTeethFluxDensityParameter
However, when I start the optimization, I receive the following error messages:
"Failed to extract solution data for ... $Yoke='19.15mm'' at '$D' with value '245mm', please exclude this sweep value from the calculation range. (3:33:01 PM Apr 08, 2025)"
"Failed to evaluate calculation 'StatorSlotFillFactorParameter'. (3:33:01 PM Apr 08, 2025)"After these errors appear, the optimization process stops.
When I use only the
EfficiencyParameter
as the objective, the optimization completes without any issues. However, when I include the other parameters — or even try each of them individually withoutEfficiencyParameter
— I still encounter the same errors. Similarly, when I use the "Parametric" tool instead of "Optimization" to perform a parametric sweep, I face similar issues.I would be very grateful if you could inform me about the cause of this issue and share a possible solution.
Thank you in advance for your support.

Ansys EmployeeHi, this is an issue of the "Generic Rotating Machines" that has been already reported. Unfortunately, results such as StatorSlotFillFactorParameter cannot even be reported in a rectangular plot so this might be the issue. This cannot be reproduced with Adjust Speed Synchronous Machines so kindly use a different machine category. Apologies for the inconvenience.
