Restrict deformation to a limit

      Hii,

As you can see in the image, my deformation is going beyond the metal housing. I want to restrict it without giving deflection in structural analysis. I tried giving displacement in static structural but it creates a bow shape of the tongue. Please help. Thanks.

      Hi,

Thank you for your response, I have read all the guidelines on student community and edited my post accordingly.

have you defined a frictional contact at the following location highlighted in red and green?

No, I haven't. I will go with edge (red) and area (green) contact and I think that will do it. Thanks a lot. Will let you know soon.

anticipating contact will be face to face due to deformation instead of edge to face, Go for face to face contact instead.

I can't add Edge and Face contact at a time ? I anticipated that the edge will rub first and then the area might come in contact (not sure though, will have to check). I have around "8 faces and 2 Edges" on contact and "8 face" contacts on target. I am not able to select face and edge simultaneously. Thanks.

Hi, I tried the method you suggested. It restricted deflection beyond the metal surface but unfortunately it started with that area in contact. I need the tongue to deflect during insertion but the tongue shouldn't cross boundaries. My apologies, I should have mentioned this at the start of this discussion. I found following result.

The yellow (bow shape) marked is undesirable, Green and Red faces were taken to be in contact. I need to take edge contact for green and face contact for red but it seems it will give similar result. Should I add another manual contact along with previous ones ?

Thanks. Any suggestion is most welcome.

Sorry what's the exact issue here? It does seem to behave as expected here to me! Am I missing something?

Yes Sorry, my bad. It's behaving at it should the only amendment was to provide edge contact to face contact. Thanks for your solution. You're awesome. Much obliged.
