SubscriberI am once again asking for your help that follows this topic.
So, I don't know why, the coordinates the program read (from the first notepad attached) were 100x larger than what's on the file. Is it because I used "," instead of "." ?Â
Therefore, I am asking if I can resize the surface automatically to what I need. If not, is there any way (before inserting the coordinate file) to limit the size of the mesh/geometry, before meshing ? These are the requirements I need to meet:
The number of points of the map in each direction is: I=199, J=269.
To get a horizontal mesh, it should be defined:
- Meshing limits:
- xmin = -10000
- xmax = 9000
- ymin = -8800
- ymax = 10000
- Constant resolution zone (40 m resolution in x & y):
- xcmin = -2000
- xcmax = 2000
- ycmin = -3000
- ycmax = 3000
- Number of knots of the mesh in each direction:
- ni = 200
  - nj = 270
Â
Â
I have another question (if needed I'll open another topic).Â
So, I've used combine tool to join the surfaces that were created by using blend tool to unite curves (described on the topic refered above). The finished form looks like it still detects different surfaces (pic following). Won't that be a problem when using the pull tool ? To get volume?Â
Â
Sorry for the really long question. Thank you all.

AdministratorHello,
Could you please check the 'Units'? By default, SCDM assumes that the units are millimeters. This is perhaps why you are seeing the issue. In a general manner of speaking, you should be able to Scale the geometry (you should find this option under Pull). Please try this out and let us know if it works on your geometry.
Also, regarding your second question - which face are you trying to pull for the volume?
Thanks.

SubscriberHello! Thanks for you reply!
Â
So, I already tried to change the units, but it just does the conversion directly. So it's length it's still in the km. I've tried to change from "," to "." in the coordinate file and it reads it correctly. Maybe I'll have to do it all over again.
Unfortunatly it is impossible for me to use the pull tool, since the college computer can't compute it as it is a very large file and it blocks completly.Â
Â
Regarding the second question, the objective is to have the profile of a mountain, to simulate the flow threw it. So in order to create the fluid flow limits and boundary coundition I believe I have to pull all of them to be like what I've drawn below (even though I'll be only meshing the original surface). I can't see other solution to simulate it.Â

Thank you !!

AdministratorHello,
Yeah. I understand. Manipulating these 'dirty' surfaces can be tricky. Have you tried to use the fill tool by creating 5 additional surfaces (rectangles) - very similar to the way you have drawn in the image?
Thanks.

SubscriberThank you for your reply. Since I have to rebuild everything, it will take me a few days especially for combining surfaces (it's taking 10-15m each).
Â
Once it's finished I'll try to do it and come back to you.
Thanks for your help !

Ansys Employeefor such geometries the workflow is -Â
1. create approximate geometry.Â
2. geometry may have overlapping, intersecting faces.Â
3. read geometry in Fluent Meshing
4. use wrapper in fluent meshing

SubscriberI'm still finishing the geometry. Once I have it finished, I'll try both solutions. Thank you !!
