Ansys provides recommended AWS instance types for the use of Ansys Simulation Software
- Recommended Hardware for VDI Workflows (ansys.com)
- Recommended Hardware for HPC Workflows (ansys.com)
Once you set up your VPC on the AWS, you need to request a quota for different instance types.
By default, AWS grants quota for On-Demand Standard Instances [C, M, R, T instances] for each region.
This doesn't include On-Demand HPC instances [hpc6a, hpc7a, or hpc6id].For more details on the Service Quotas, see https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-resource-limits.html.Â
To request additional or new quotas, you need to log in to the Service Quotas Console.
Â
To increase your quota or add on-demand HPC instances, click on Quota increase:
and follow the prompts.
Service Quota Name
- Running On-Demand G and VT instancesÂ
- Running On-Demand Standard (A, C, D, H, I, M, R, T, Z) instances
- Running On-Demand HPC instances  Â
Please note that the quota is listed in terms of virtual CPUs for standard on-demand instances. The physical cores are generally half of that.Â
