SubscriberHello,
I am currently working on an electrostatic simulation for an inductor to find the parasitic capacitance involved in a 2D simulation. I had a query about the local variables defined in the design properties.
I wish to assign the voltage of each turn in the winding to a specific value. However, with the increase in the number of turns of the inductor, it becomes a tedious process to assign them individually. So, I am trying to define an array containing various values of voltages. For example, If there 13 turns in the inductor, the array would consist of 13 different voltage values. Further, these conductors would be selected and assigned the excitation with the same variable name. With this process, I get an error message which I have attached.Â
Could you please look into this issue and advice me accordingly?. I would also highly appreciate it if you could provide insights into the simulation for the above-mentioned purpose. Â
Thanks,

Forum ModeratorHi @Vaibhav2020,nIt not clear what you want to do exactly,nCan you explain your setup with some screenshots or images? Please use the upload image option or past screenshots, do not use the upload file option.nuse the same for error message screenshots.nnRegards,nNavyanApril 19, 2021 at 5:58 pmVaibhav2020
SubscriberThanks for your reply @nchode. As desired, I have attached a screenshot of inductor windings (File name - IND_wdg) which has 'n' turns of the copper coil in 3 layers. I wish to assign the voltage of each turn in the winding to a specific value. However, with the increase in the number of turns of the inductor, it becomes a tedious process to assign them individually. Currently, I have defined variables (eg v11, v12, v13, and so on) for each voltage assignment for these coils as shown in the File name - wdg_prop. Would there be any other approach to assign voltage excitation to them?. nThanks.!nApril 26, 2021 at 12:29 pmNKC
Forum ModeratorHi,nAs per the voltage assignment is considered I don't think there is any other way.nBut if you are using version 2020 R1 and above. You can use the current excitation solution type instead of voltage excitation.nThis is to be enabled in general settings> Beta options and enable Maxwell 3D AC conduction solution.nnRegards,nNavyann
