I'm running a rigid body transient structural analysis of a lifting operation. There are a lot of iterations. I've successfully managed to limit the writing of results. However, the solve.out file gets very big (multiple GB). Is there a way I can stop Ansys writing to the solve.out file, similar to the /NOPR apdl command? It looks like command snippets need to be in rbd Python?

Hi Ashish,
Many thanks for your reply. I have already set analysis to reduce the amount of results to as you suggest to limit the number of times the results are written. Is there a way I can also stop Ansys writing to the solve.out file? In the example below, the results file is 3GB, and the solve.out file is 1GB. I was hoping to not have such a large solve.out file.

The default rigid body dynamics output file is the smallest possible. It can't be reduced in size. It's very unusual that it be so large. Is there something unusual about your analysis? Contact iterations? The solve.out file can be deleted during or after solution without affecting the analysis.

Thanks for your help Dave. I am running an analysis of a lift scenario; there is a large end termination being lifted, attached to a cable-type structure that I have idealised to a series of short cylindrical lengths, connected by revolute joints. The cable has a bend restrictor that stops the joint rotating at a set angle. The whole unit rotates from horizontal to vertical orientation as it is lifted, due to the mass of the cable hanging from one end. I am running the analysis up to 10 m lift height, there seem to be a lot of itterations, possibly due to the revolute joints stops. I will try deleting the output file midway, thanks for your advice!
