SubscriberHello im quite new to SC and having troubles adding midsurfaces to my model to utlize shell elements. It looks like some midsurfaces are not getting added and quite many of my midsurfaces do not have a thickness. Tried to merge all the faces of the one component im working on right not but then the whole solid turned in to a surface. Do you guys have any guidence to give me? Inserting to images below

SubscriberIt looks like the structure is fabricated using a sandwich construction. There is an inner skin, bonded to rows of flat rectangular tube, bonded to an outer skin.
I recommend building a small model to derive the orthotropic material properties of the sandwich.
Then build a single sheet body of the rail car and use the orthotropic properties on the shell elements.
