      Hello Support Team,

I am doing the tutorial Getting Started - Fluid Solid Heat Transfer Part 1 (CHT).

My Problem is that the boundary conditions of Thermal Solid are ignored.

I don´t understand why because I did the same like im video in ANSYS learning hub.

It would be great if you can help me.

      Thank you in advaned.

      Metha

      Hi Metha Martin Waga

Which mode are you trying out your simulation in, the Refine mode or the Explore mode?

Also, which version of Discovery are you using?

It seems like you are in Explore mode and using 2021 R2 version. And that might be the reason you are getting that error message.

The Fluid Solid Heat transfer in Explore mode was introduced in the latest 2022 R1 version.

Please note that the tutorial uses 2022 R1 version as mentioned in the video title.

I would recommend you download the latest version from here to run Fluid solid heat transfer simulation in explore mode.

If you are using the older version, you can try the same simulation in Refine mode.

        Regards.

Devendra Badgujar I cannot install the lastest version right now because I have to check that with our IT support first.

I switch the the Refine Mode in version 2021 R2. The warning is now disappear but after solving for few minutes it was an error message. So it doesn´t work also in Refine Mode of version 2021 R2? Maybe you can check the file in the attachment.

        Best regards

      Hi Metha Martin Waga

When you run the same simulation in Refine mode, there is one requirement of refine mode you need to do is to imprint the geometries on to one another.

Please check the tutorial Getting Started - Fluid Solid Heat Transfer Part 3 (CHT) for more information on this.

      Regards.

Devendra Badgujar Thank you very much. It worked with in Refine Mode with imprint!

I have few questions more. I want to test CHT in Ansys Discvovery. My plan is to simulate an aluminum plate with a power of 20W in an air domain to see the convection due to the heat. My questions are

        1) Is it possible in Ansys Discovery

        2) Do you have tutorial for that

        3) How to set opening boundary condition on the 6 faces of the air domain like in Ansys CFX. I only see in Ansys Discovery inlet, outlet, wall and porous boundary conditions.

        Thank you in advanced

        Metha

        Thanks for your update.

For your other question, I will check and get back to you.

      Hi Metha Martin Waga

Opening boundary condition is not possible in Discovery. To simulate this in Discovery you can try to model one inlet at a very low pressure and all outlets at 0 Gauge pressure.

We currently don't have any tutorial for this case.

      Regards.

Devendra Badgujar Hi, last question. Is it possible to simulate a heat sink with surrounding air domain to see the convection due to the heat in Ansys Discovery like in ANSYS Icepak or Fluent?

         Regards

        Metha

Yes this should be possible to simulate.
