SubscriberI am modeling an aircraft wing for an academic project, the wing is formed by 24 parts, and I'm studying its interaction with air while flying.
I've been told that, when meshing an assembly, surface/regions from different parts that are in contact with one another must have the same mesh, they must be meshed equally in order for the problem to be correctly formulated.
I've tried to do this by using the tool "Contact match" in mechanical. However, when I select the master geometry and the slave geometry and try to generate the contact match for meshing, nothing useful happens, ANSYS tells me the following:

The contact match is getting ignored in your model, that's why it is showing a minus sign on it. Various troubleshooting ways are listed in Ansys help. I have attached the link for your reference. Which mesh method are you using for meshing? Contact match is supported by patch conforming method. You can check more details here.
If you want to have same mesh at contacts you can also use share topology in spaceclaim, which ensures the mesh connectivity. Put the bodies under the same component that has itsShared Topologyproperty set to Shared (or Merged in ANSYS 15.0 and 16.0). This property can be found in the properties panel when you select one or more components in theStructure tree.
If you are expecting the contact and target faces should be equal then you can click on that contact region and see which faces are considered and edit if needed. But, as per your description I guess you don't want any contacts.
