Hello, I was recently working on a mini design project which required the use of ANSYS and as I have a MacBook and ANSYS is a windows only software, I have Parallels installed to run it. However I was having severe rendering issues and was wondering if it would be a problem with the specs of the laptop or the fact that I was running ANSYS on Parallels.
These are my 2020 MacBook specs: 1.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB, 8GB RAM.
Would ANSYS run flawlessly on a higher spec MacBook like one with the M3 Pro chip or would it be more wise to just get a windows laptop.
The first picture is how it should be rendering which I did on a friends laptop, and the second one is how mine appears, if you look carefully you can kind of see a bit of the mesh. The third and fourth picture are in the designmodeler which is another issue, while in "model view" the structure does not show however when changing to the "print review" tab, the structure shows as it should. Thanks in advance

Hello Azaan,Â
Thank you for reaching out, MacBooks are not supported even if they have powerful specs.Â
Ansys applications are tested and supported with Windows and Linux.Â
Can you try creating a virtual machine for a compatible Windows OS? It is not an ideal way but it might work.Â
There's a list of prerequisites for using Ansys applications:
Hardware requirements: https://download.ansys.com/-/media/customerportal/getting-started/2023-02-ansys-general-hardware-recommendations.pdf?la=en&hash=FFBF67F37A05F3FD48381A9DC2A0AD21FB1ACE1D
Platform support documentation: https://www.ansys.com/content/dam/it-solutions/platform-support/2024-r1/ansys-2024-r1-platform-support-by-application.pdf
Tested Graphics card: https://www.ansys.com/content/dam/it-solutions/platform-support/2024-r1/ansys-2024-r1-graphical-display-graphics-cards-tested.pdf
I hope this helps,Â
Mrunali.
