I am in the finishing stages of a design that has about a hundred sheets for it's subassemblies and parts. These are, except for the root assembly overview drawing, associated to it's components, of which all are of course external.Â
The task at hand is to print an up to date and complete set of drawings upon request, immetiately at any one given time, since I will most probably have to repeat the task within a few days, after we received feedback on the first set and made adjustments. Iterations may follow, until all components get cleared for production.Â
I know I can print all open sheets. That would require me to go though all the assembly tree with a fine comb and open all sheets, which is tedious, and making sure not a single sheet is lost in the process, is close to impossible.Â
So, my question is:
Is there a way to initiate the printout (or PDF creation) of all sheets without opening each one first?Â
Â
Best,
Martin

Hello Martin Kopplow
I am not aware of any other way to print the drawing sheets without opening them. The concerned operations also doesn't seem to get recorded through scripting panel, which I thought could be one way to address this issue. Let me check with the team and get back to you.

Hello Naresh PatreÂ
thanks for the fast response.
I was afraid this could be the case. Opening all the sheets would require an enormous amout of memory, though, and occupy the machine for hours. Is there at least an 'open all sheets' option so I could go subassembly by subassembly? Or could there be a scrpiting option to open them all, though only one at a time, save them as PDF and close? I could then print all PDFs in a second step.Â

Hi Martin Kopplow
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I checked with the team and there doesn't seem to be a better way to address the requirement that you had mentioned in this post. I will still continue to check it out and let you know in case I find any viable solution.Â

Thanks for looking into it. What a pity there is no tool to support "Print Complete Drawing Set (to PDF)", as this appears to be something that would be meet a widespread requirement.
Do you feel like accepting this as a feature request? We could discuss the GUI implications this has, since there would of course need to be a visualisation of what you get, such as maybe a drawing browser, where one could browse all drawings associated with a design from the root component. (I know similar fubnctionality exists elsewhere.)

Hi Martin Kopplow
I will submit a feature request for this requirement.

Any word on the status of this request? I don't have as many sheets as Martin Kopplow to open, but it is quite cumbersome even with 30 sheets.
Â
Thanks,
Don
