Hello everyone,
I am performing a transient FSI two-way analysis with Fluent and Mechanical on a single blade immersed in a partially filled oscillating tank. I have a question regarding post-processing with EnSight.
I followed the "System Coupling tutorial" PDF for post-processing in EnSight, but a doubt arose. It is mentioned that to visualize the "total nodal displacement" of the "system coupling region" (which in this case is the blade), the variable to apply is "displacement_since_mesh_import". Additionally, it is possible to load the .rst file generated by Mechanical into EnSight. In this case, the variable to visualize the blade displacement is "displacement". Why do these two variables not have the same values for the same time step if they represent the same thing?Â
Thanks in advance. -

Hi,
Please see if the following post helps:

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately it does not give any usefull informations for my doubt. Do you have any idea of which one between "displacement_since_mesh_import" and "displacement" give the real values? The first one is an output of the System Coupling, the second one comes from Mechanical.

Hi
Out of curiosity what effects are you studying, and what would like you like to see from your simulations?

Hi,
I I am running a two-way Fluent-Mechanical simulation of a plate immersed in a tank filled with a liquid and a gas using VOF method. The tank is subject to the force of gravity and a harmonic force acting along the x-axis. I would like to know how much the plate deforms and how the force generated by the sloshing liquid on the walls is related to the displacement of the plate.
