Subscriber"I'm designing a rectangular waveguide, waveguide-to-coax adapter is going to act as input and using a wave port for excitation. I'm currently simulating the rectangular waveguide alone.
Should I chose 'Port Renormalize' or 'Do Not Renormalize' in the post-processing setup of waveport ?
I believe 'Do Not Renormalize' is more appropriate in this case because the waveguide-to-coax adapter, when included, will define the input impedance, not a simple 50-ohm coax.
Could you please confirm my understanding and provide any further guidance?

Forum ModeratorHi,
Thank you for reaching out to the Ansys learning forum.
You are correct to use the 'do not renormalize' option for your model. If this is selected, Ansys HFSS software uses the calculated characteristic impedance of each excited mode as the normalizing impedance during the analysis.
If interested you can go through these free AIC courses on waveguides - Waveguide Simulation Using Ansys HFSS | Ansys Courses and Intro to Ansys HFSS | ANSYS Innovation Courses.Best regards,
