SubscriberI want to use Tecplot360 to post-process my simulation output. I am using .dat output file format from Ansys fluent and export them inot Tecplot360. The inlet of my geometry is a tube and the flow there is laminar and so I expecting the velocity profile at the inlet to be parabolic, but it rather flat. Does Ansys do the calculation and automatically generate the velocity profile at the inlet and other part of the geometry or I have to manually specify the parabolic velocity equations at the inlet in order for me to get the parabolic velocity profile?Â

Ansys EmployeeHi,
ANSYS Fluent does not automatically generate the velocity profile based on the laminar flow assumption. Instead, you would need to specify the velocity profile manually if you want to impose a specific velocity distribution at the inlet.
