We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Possibility of symmetric simulation of translation movements?

I want to simulate an electric machine with translation movement in Z axis. It is a simulation in 3D so it takes a lot of time, so i want to simulate it with a symetry. I tried using independed/depended boundary but as my movement is in the middle it writes me: "Band can not touch matching boundary if the motion type is non-periodic translation motion or non-cylindrical rotational motion. " Is it possible to simulate translation movement with symetry in my case?

      Hello,

Could you show a full model of this machine? Thanks.

Are you sure this is a translational movement instead of rotation? I just saw your previous post and it looks like the part in the middle is rotating around z.

I am pretty sure this is linear motion. It is Linear oscillatory motor. It is based on the theory in this research Novel Hybrid-Flux-Path Moving-Iron Linear Oscillatory Machine With Magnets on Stator | IEEE Journals & Magazine | IEEE Xplore. It does work with whole model, it does produce force in Z-axis as intended, it just takes hours to complete, as it is 3D double stator linear motion. With rotational it would not be problem to do the symetric simulation. But for the translation I dont know what to do with the band and bounderies touching.

If it is a translation alone z, your V vector should be at z direction. You can check periodic to make it accept your band settings and only simulate the first cycle.
