SubscriberHello,
I have a question about Polyflow example #40 - 2-D Axisymmetric squeezing flow. I am using ANSYS R2021/R2. The model is transient. I would like to evaluate the force acting on the upper or lower plate in time. How can I set up the Polyflow outputs to get the time trend of the force (reaction) or pressure action on the plate? Will be the results in standard units, or related to the length of the plate (2D) or to the surface of the plate (2*pi*R), meaning N or N/m or N/m2 or Pa or Pa/m or Pa/m2? The results can be also in simple data arrays in the text file (not necessary for CFD-Post). I will use the model for the description of the measured force in time during the squeezing flow experiment.
Thank you for your reply

Ansys EmployeeHello,
the total stress, σ = − pI +τ , where “I” is an Identity matrix, “p” is the hydrostatic pressure, “τ” is the viscoelastic components
force, F =σ .A
In CFD-Post under “Expressions”, calculate first the total stress using total extra-tensor post processor. Then using Expressions, evaluate the area integral of the all the components over the surface on which the force has to be evaluated. Then by getting the appropriate normal vector components on the surface of interest, evaluate all the force components acting on the desired surface.
