Permittivity/Permeability Value and Loss Tangent

      Hi,

I am dealing with a very lossy magnetic material and I could not find out, what the Permeability value in the material definition in ANsys HFSS actually is. Is it the real part of the complex permeability/permittivity or the magnitude? (I am guessing, that it is the real part, but I would like to know for sure.)

Best regards and thanks in advance.

      Hi Jan,

The Relative Permeability is the real part of the complex relative permeability.

Magntic loss tangent is the ratio of imag/real of the complex permbeality. Note that the sign of loss tangent should be positive to represent the loss.

Thanks a lot for the confirmation! :)
