SubscriberHi,
I was trying to access a workbench file (For instance: I have completed a Lid Driven Cavity analysis) in -aas mode so that I can access/control ansys through Matlab. Teh version of Ansys is Ansys 2023 R1. However, I am having a few technical difficulties which are as follows:
1.) I am able to open Fluent in -aas mode and been able to access the Fluent's funcationalities through Matlab as detailed in the tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td0rV_4IXI4). However, I would like to know if there is documentation that describes the all the syntaxes so that we can setup solver options and perform a run, all through matlab (For Instance: The tutorial explains enabling/disabling gravity function, how can I perform mesh check, set solver option and so on through Matlab?).
2.) The Mechanical APDL fails to open in -aas mode.Â
3.) I would also like to know how to open workbench in -aas mode. I tried using the document (https://support.ansys.com/KnowledgeResources/Solutions?solutionIdentifier=sol2057025&productName=ANSYS+Fluent&productFamily=Fluid%20Dynamics), but for some reason it does not create the solver key file.
Would appreciate any advice/a complete example of a case being run through Matlab in -aas mode?
Regards,
Shreyas

Ansys EmployeeHi Shreyas
The "-aaS" mode of Fluent and MAPDL are somewhat outdated these days. A better option would be for you to explore PyAnsys:  https://docs.pyansys.com/version/stable/Â
PyAnsys is a series of Python Language Libraries [PLL] that us users can employ to interact with certain Ansys products running as a server (aaS). MAPDL and Fluent are available to the public as PyMAPDL and PyFluent. Other PLLs for some specific Ansys products either already exist too, or are being actively developed and will be available 'soon'. Â
It should be easier to tie Matlab to MAPDL or Fluent via their PLLs than what that video shows.Â
Right now Workbench does not have a aaS mode with respect to a PLL...there is something coming but I think it was a typical "had to take a few steps back to take a big step forward" situation. There is PySystemCoupling in the PyAnsys family.
Hope this helps,
Mike Â
