SubscriberHello Everybody,
I am having problems opening the Ansys Workbench because of problems with the version. I was using Ansys 2022 R1 in the university, finished the simulations and startet evaluating the results on my own laptop. On my laptop I am using the free student software which is Ansys 2023 R2. After some trouble with my laptop I've decided to continue the work on the university computer again, only to find out it won't open because I am using "old software" at the university.
I can't upgrade the version on the university computer. Is there a way to save the Ansys file on my laptop in some way that older versions can still access my simulation?
I am using the Polyflow solver, if that helps in any way.
Thanks for the help!

Forum ModeratorIn some cases solver files will read into older versions of the code, so you may be lucky. That's solver, model and version dependent so can't be relied on. Workbench will always fail to read a project created in a newer version.Â
There's no older build of Student; the way it's licenced means we only offer current and two prior releases.Â

SubscriberThanks for the quick reply.
But if I can't even open the Workbench, how can I acces Polyflow?
I understand that there is no older build of the Student software, but can I somehow save an older version in the newest student software? I.e. I can save a my Power Point as an old .ppt file and the new .pptx file. That way older PP versions can acces the presentation I made on the new software. I assume there is no such feature in Ansys?
Thanks

Forum ModeratorPolyflow will run outside of Workbench, you'll need to export the working files (I don't know the format as I don't use Polyflow) and then launch from the Start menu.Â
The problem is not the file format as such, but that models may or may not be available in earlier versions of the code. So, the format is technically unchanged but the data stored may be different.Â
