Object does not have a mesh error

      Hi All,

I am trying to Run a Steady State Thermal Analysis of a PCB on Ansys ICEPAK AEDT. I tried importing a sample file and when I mesh it throws an error stating "object does not have a mesh". This is happening to all the components on the PCB (Mosfet, Two Resistors and two Screw Switch on a 2 layer PCB). I would like to know how to solve this mesh error. Thank you so much for the help.

      Kind Regards,

      Naresh

      Hi Naresh,

since it is happening on many small elements, my first suggestion would be to try and improve the mesh. If the mesh is too coarse, then some objects are implicitly filtered out. "Too coarse" means that the dimension of the minimum element of the mesh is larger than the dimension of the object you're trying to mesh.

      Best regards,
      Lorenzo

      Hi All,

I also found similar issue saying "object does not have mesh" while performing steady state thermal analysis of PCB on Icepak. Any suggestions to avoid this error are welcome and is there any other way to perform steady state thermal analysis other than Icepak.

      Regards,

      Harish

      Hi,

as said above, the error probably is due to a small element in a coarse mesh. Try to add a mesh region around your objects or increase the resolution of the global mesh.

Regarding your second question: if you are interested in conduction (with convection and/or radiation applied as boundaries) you can use Mechanical inside AEDT.
