SubscriberHello everyone, I ran a transient and unsteady particle tracking simulation and I got the number of escaped and trapped particles via particle track ->particle ID, and the report type is summary. My problem is the particle ID summary can only get the recent time step particle information, if I want to get the number of escaped and trapped particles at each time step, how can I get them? Â

Forum ModeratorYou'd need to run the report every time step. A safer route may be the DPM.out files (DPM Summary) which can be set to report parcels hitting/passing a surface.Â
Note, you're tracking parcels. Assuming you've not been setting multiple injections or size distribution or "scale by area" on the surface injection the number of parcels added will be directly proportional to the mass injected.Â

SubscriberThanks for your reply, Rob!
So if I need the DPM summary at every time step, the only way to do that is to stop the calculation every time step and get the DPM summary? I did this before, my total flow time was 30 min and I stopped the calculation every 5 min and ran the DPM summary report, so I could get the number of escaped and trapped particles every 5 min. Is there any more efficient way? Reports in Fluent can write the report in a certain frequency, but in the particle track, I didn't see the frequency setting.

Forum ModeratorThat's what the summary files are for. You then need to work on the data to get out what you need. Alternatively look at the DPM Reports and Escaped Mass - that should give you the mass flow as opposed to the parcel count at that position.Â
