nSmP battery connection arrangement in Fluent

      Hello everyone,

I am trying to simulate a battery module in ANSYS Fluent using the MSMD battery model. My case includes the viscous, energy, and battery models. To define the connectivity between different battery cells, I have opted for virtual connections using an external .txt file. After reviewing the ANSYS tutorials and the Fluent User's Guide, I am still unable to establish an nSmP battery connection, where n represents the number of cells connected in series, and m represents the number of cells connected in parallel. Based on the User's Guide instructions, I have only been able to define an mPnS module, which does not achieve the desired configuration.

Is there a way to accomplish this using the virtual connectivity option, or is the busbar approach the only solution?

Thank you very much for your assistance,
      Kind regards,
      Iason

When setting up the Virtual Connections, you have two input formats available: 1. Tab surface-based format . 2. Active zone volume based format.

Both them are defined as mPnS. If you wish you establish an alternative format, then you would have to do it using a busbar. You can see 30.2. Using the MSMD-Based Battery Models (ansys.com) for more information.
