Hello,

I'm getting a license error just right after installation. I tried to re-install with admin rights, even ran licensing client apps under 

C:\Program Files\AnsysEM\Ansys Student\v232\Win64\licensingclient\winx64

but no luck. LMUTIL also can't find the license file by default:

Would you please help me locating the license?

Hello Mustafa, 

I assume you have not installed the student version, have you downloaded the academic version before this?
You need not install server details for the students' version.
Which version of the Ansys application have you installed? Do you have academic or commercial licenses?

Thanks for the reply but I do have the student version of the software. I did not have any other versions.

 

For the student version, I have installed it and then I couldn't start the application due to the error above.

 

I would appreciate any other suggestions.

Hi Mustafa,

Please delete the ansyslmd.ini file (C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\Shared Files\licensing) and Ansoft folder (Documents). 

Try to relaunch the application.

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find ansyslmd.ini under Documents/Ansoft folder but there is one under "C:\Program Files\AnsysEM\Shared Files\Licensing" which is an empty file.

I was able to start the software by re-downloading, re-installing it (without deleting old one) and using the modify option. I tried repair option before which didn't fix. Hopefully, this helps some other people if they face similar issue.

Thank you for the update Mustafa, 

For future reference: ansyslmd.ini file is under  "C:\Program Files\AnsysEM\Shared Files\Licensing".
Renaming Documents\Ansoft to Ansoft.old will clear the cache. 

I'm glad that the issue is issue is resolved.
