SubscriberHello everyone. I wonder if it is possible to set up two or more sources in Ansys lumerical fdtd for topology optimization. I am trying to do that but it seems like one of the sources does not work, so the device acts like one source device instead of two sources. -

Ansys EmployeeHi Fakhriyya,
Even though lumopt was not built to work with multiple sources there are two ways to achieve your optimization. You can either co-optimize the performance of both inputs separately or can you have two input sources and if you name both ‘source’ the automated routines should work. However, if you provide us with more information on what you are trying to achieve we might be able to give you more guidance.
Regards,
Niki

SubscriberThank you Niki,
I am trying to design AND logic gate. I wanted to set both sources for 11 case and set transmission to 1 on the output. However, the transmission I obtain is close to 0. I am not sure why. I used two sources and named them both as 'source' just as you said

Ansys EmployeeHi Fakhriyya,
I believe that what you are trying to achieve is more complicated compared to what you are asking for. Maybe it’s better go through FDTD simulations and try and understand why there is zero transmission through the system. Look at where the loss is coming from. However, it seems that simulating an AND gate you need to exploit nonlinearities. It might be worth searching on literature as well.
Kind Regards,
Niki
