Modelling inter-layer strength for 3D printed concrete

      Hello,

I'm trying to model how a sample of 3D printed concrete would react under certain loads.

Because of how the printing works, inbetween each layer of concrete, the strength is somewhat lower.

I'm wondering what the best way to model this is. It wouldn't do (I don't think) to model the surface between layers as frictional, nor bonded. Should I model another thin layer of lower strength material which is bonded to the others?

Thank you very much, any help would be much appreciated.

      Hi,

I did not find material where Ansys was used for analyzing 3D printed concrete but did find some papers in public domain which may be of relevance to you. Following are the titles that you can search for:

      1. FEM MODELLING TECHNIQUES FOR SIMULATION OF 3D CONCRETE PRINTING
      2. Numerical modelling and simulation for extrusion-based 3D concrete printing: The underlying physics, potential, and challenges

      3. Modelling of 3D concrete printing process: A perspective on material and structural simulations
