Modeling Unconfined Compression Test on Sandstone

  Hello,
  
  Can you please guide me through building a simple model which can predict failure planes during a UCS test on a sandstone cylinder.
  
  I attached the pictured sample after the test. Some hints to guide me or an initial model to start from will be appreciated.
