SubscriberHi, I am working on the heat transfer between the particle and the boundary condition using DPM model with the discrete phase BC type being "reflect".Â
I am curious how Fluent model/formulate this heat transfer and I went to the Fluent theory guide and I found Section 12.11 Particle wall impingement heat transfer theory, but it is really for droplet in heat transfer calculation but my particle is a inert solid particle and I found there is surface tension properties in the inert particle Materials section. But I don't think this droplet model works for solid inert particle.
What do you suggest? Is there a tutorial to write a udf function for the particle-wall heat exchange?

Ansys EmployeeHello, I am surprised that the heat transfer from a reflecting particle is significant enough to matter, but in any case you can take a look at the examples for DEFINE_DPM_BC in the Fluent Customization Manual. I don't know that there is anything doing exactly what you want, but it may give you some materials and useful ideas to get started.Â
You could also consider the example of coal combustion, where you can use a gas-phase source UDF in conjunction with the DEFINE_DPM_BC udf in order to handle heat and mass transfer to the gas phase after particles stick to the wall. You could do something similar with collisions and heat transfer using a custom DEFINE_PROFILE or DEFINE_HEAT_FLUX for the boundary if you want to modify the energy flux there, instead of a gas-phase source like the coal combustion method.
