SubscriberHelloÂ
I would like to simuated a sound induced by pipe flow using the wave equation model in ansys fluent.Â
However I would like to place a receiver (mic) inside the cement like the figure. So the sound propagation experiences the different medial and sound speed must be different depending on the place. Can the wave equation model consider such a complex condition?
I will be really happy if you answer my question. Thank you.Â

Ansys EmployeeHello,Â
Impedance boundary conditions are not yet available with the Acoustics Wave Equation model. The AWE assumes that all walls are considered acoustically hard, which ideally reflects sound. Hence, it will not work for your case.

SubscriberThank you for answering my question.
Do you have any idea to calcuate the sound propagating in the steel and cement region? Like add a user defined function to ansys or something.Â

Ansys EmployeeI believe your best bet would be to couple the Fluent side with Mechanical Acoustics. You can find some examples of the range of applications here: How to setup acoustic simulations in Mechanical ? - Ansys Knowledge
If you do pursue this route, I would invite you to post a new thread in the Mechanical feeds

SubscriberFederico,
Thank you so much for the suggestion. It is exactly what I want to do and I will try to do that. If you could invite me the thread, I would be really happy.Â
I have one more questions for the coupling. Is this a one way coupling?Â
