Hello everyone,

I'm trying to simulate the cooling of a battery by means of a fluid that undergoes a phase change from liquid to vapour. For this reason, I want to use the MSMS model for the battery and the mixture model for the two-phase flow and phase change. 

I notice that in the version I'm running, 2022R1 these two models are not compatible and as soon as I turn on the multiphase model the battery is turned off. On the contrary, if I run it in 2020R1 this does not happen and the modeling can be done normally. 

Since I now have access to the latest version, 2022R1, I want to ask if there is a way to be able to use both of these models at the same time.

Hi, the Multiphase model is not compatible with the Battery model in Fluent. If it works in a previous version, it is not recommended as there could be instabilites which is why it has been discontinued. Additionally, since it is not compatible in 22R1, you cannot use both models.

May I ask what is the recommended approach towards multiphase battery cooling? Is there a battery related model compatible with the multiphase one?

No, currently no Battery model is compatible with Multiphase flow. You will have to do a single-phase flow only.
