Subscriberhello!
im trying to run a simulation on an AVF connection. my arteriovenous model is an STL file which i edited (extruded edges) on spaceclaim and saved as scdoc.
i imported the file into desigmodeler and when i move to meshing, i face two problems:
1. i can't mesh the model and get an error
2. i miss a face from the model

Ansys Employeethe best way to mesh stl is using Fluent Meshing. please check following links.Â

when you import stl in spaceclaim, it will have many faceted faces. if you convert them into geometry faces then each one will convert into one geometry face and it would be mess for meshing.Â
if you still want to persist with spaceclaim, please check if you can create geometry out of stl using skin tool or any other tool.Â

Subscriberthank you very much Keyur! ill check those links.
I'd like to understand if the root of the problem is with the fact that the original file is STL, or with the extrude i made in spaceclaim. I ask because first i only cut the edges of the STL and did manage to run a full simulation in Fluent. after that, i've extrude the edges and the whole mess began.
also i want to mention that in the first time i converted the model to solid. in the second time i also converted the model to solid but couldnt merge them, so i got 4 parts.
Avital.

Forum ModeratorDelete the mesh. Then mesh the bifurcation (click on it, right click & mesh selected body). Then mesh the extruded sections.Â

Ansys Employeeyou converted facets to solid and then extruded to get more solid bodies. now as the converted solid may not have correct definition, it may fail in extrusion and also may have geometry errors in extrusion. It may face issues in connecting these two solids as well.Â
So best way is to create solid from facets with the skin tool and then proceed.Â
