Mesh information and results export

      Dear all,

I would like to export e.g. the strain energy results of a simulation in Ansys Mechanical, and I know how to do it; you can simply export a text file which contains the element number of the mesh and its corresponding strain energy value.

The thing which instead I am not able to do is to export like a similar file for the mesh, where the same elements are linked to their position with respect to the coordinate system.

Is there a way to do this?

I would like to export these information to then work on them on Matlab. Hope someone could help me!

      Thank you in advance.

      Best regards

      Gioele

You want the node coordinates along with the node id's right? Inside mechanical go to file>options>export - Include node locations "Yes". You will find the coordinates along with the node id and strain result in the exported .csv file.

Yes thank you very much, that is exactly what I am looking for!
Anyway I can only get the node coordinates when I export the total displacement, whereas when I am exporting the strain energy I do not get them... is it normal or there is something I can do about it?
      Thanks again in advance.

Another problem is that there is an error in coordinates. Even if i set 10 significant digits in WB, I get a difference between the WB listing and APDL listing. For the same node, I get in APDL (via nlist):

      NODE        X                   Y                   Z
         797003  -0.161412972200        0.259275686600E-001  -0.151129722300E-001

While in Workbench, I get this along with the displacements:

      Node Number    X Location (m)    Y Location (m)    Z Location (m)    Directional Deformation (m)
      797003    -0.1614129692    2.592756785e-002    -1.511297189e-002    6.799690588e-009

This is not a round-off error, it's something else which I don't understand
