Maxwell “Illegal external terminal: An external terminal must border the edge..”

      Dear all,

I am practically new to maxwell, and am trying to simulate a tip to tip arc, basically two electrodes in front of each other, and a current passing from one to the other.

When I try to add the current excitation, I am getting the following error (maybe due to the vacuum region specified?):

Illegal external terminal of current excitation: An external terminal must border the edge of the problem region and coincides with the surface of a 3D object

Could anyone help me solve this issue please?

      Thank you

      Hi Jad Diab,

The error you're encountering in Ansys Maxwell regarding the illegal external terminal of current excitation suggests that there might be an issue with how the excitation terminal is set up in relation to the geometry of your model. To resolve this, you should ensure that the excitation terminal borders the edge of the problem region and coincides with the surface of a 3D object. This is crucial for the solver to correctly apply the current excitation.

Additionally, it's important to verify that the conduction path is correctly defined and that the mesh is adequately refined to capture the geometry of the conductor, especially if it has a complex shape. Adjusting the mesh settings to use a finer mesh might be necessary.

      Regards,

      Navya
