I am trying to simulate the participation ratio of some translationally invariant structure, which is more efficientlt done using Maxwell 2D. For the very thin contamination layers, the software threw the following error message (screenshot 1) due to the large separation of scales, and recommended using classic mesh. However, when I open the initial mesh settings, unlike in other software, e.g. HFSS, there isn't an option to choose between for example TAU and classic mesh. Is this to be expected? Many thanks in advance for anyone's response.

Hello Chi Zhang,
From 2023R1 version the classic meshing feature has been discontinued in Maxwell.
As per the error message , please check if you have a "Region" modelled defined around the component of interest.

Hi,
Thanks. I ended up defining non-modal objects over the same region, and calculated the participation ratio by matching the D-field in the vacuum area enclosed by the non-modal objects to that of the contamination layers that would have been there. Creating shapes with Union rather than subtraction also helps with non-model object definition.
