This model is most useful for metals around the plasma frequency. Si is typically a doped semiconductor and usually uses a different model. We have a s number of built in silicon models that would be preferable. The Palik model is used often, with additional temperature and charge density contributions described by Soref et al.Charge distribution to change in refractive index theory
