SubscriberHi. Can anyone please help me resolve this large deformation of the beam. I have applied a 10kN load on the beam, which is designed to resist this load. Yet, the deformation is very large. I had already turned off large deflection and weak springs on settings. The fixed supports are placed on the left and right side of the beam and on the bottom and top of the column.
The geometry looks like this:
And, the non-linear stress strain curve is inserted on the APDL Command:
Â
/PREP7solid65_matid = 9996ÂMPTEMP,1,20MPDATA,EX,solid65_matid,1,21386.9164MPDATA,PRXY,solid65_matid,1,0.2ÂTB,MELAS,solid65_matid,1,6ÂÂTBTEMP,20TBPT,,0.0001,2.1386TBPT,,0.0004999, 6.1884TBPT,,0.0009995, 12.0469TBPT,,0.0014989, 16.8393TBPT,,0.0019980, 19.8166TBPT,,0.0024969, 20.7518ÂÂCMSEL,S,NM_Con,ELEMEMODIF,ALL,MAT,solid65_matid,ÂÂALLSEL,ALLÂ/SOLUÂ
The bilinear stress strain of the steels is on the Engineering Data. And there are no errors stopping the analysis.
Â
I cannot see what the problem is.
Â
I am looking forward for your help. Thank you!

Ansys EmployeeHi,
Keep large deflection ON as it will consider the stiffness change due to shape. What is the material of the beam? Make sure that the command snippet that you are using for material and Mechanical units is correct.Â
Thanks,
Akshay Maniyar
