Issues with licensing from 2020R2 to 2021R2

      Hello,

I recently updated Fluent to 2021 R2 and correspondingly updated the license server manager as well. I had to edit the license file from 2020R2 to include a port number to get 2021 R2 to work. This was successful, but once I went to use 2020R2 again, it no longer works. I now cannot stop and restart the license manager either to try to work on the problem. The license manager log is in a photo below. I need to be able to use both versions of Fluent for now until we update our HPC with 2021 R2. When opening 2020R2 the error is as follows:

ANSYS LICENSE MANAGER ERROR:Could not connect to any license server.

The server is down or is not responsive.

        ANSYSLI_SERVERS: [email protected]

        FLEXlm Servers: [email protected]

Could not make an SSL handshake with server [email protected]

      System error: 0 "".

Can you Post the first three lines of the license file you are using?
Change the hostname of the server in the post to keep anonymity
Also, are there any errors in the Flexlm debug log file? (c:\program files\Ansys Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\license.log.)

      Hi Geo
Here are the first three lines of the license file:
      SERVER 12345 DISK_SERIAL_NUM=12345 1055
      VENDOR ansyslmd PORT=2325
      USE_SERVER
In the Flexlm debug log file the following error was repeated:
17:10:44 (ansyslmd) tcp_s is bad!!! Exiting
17:10:44 (ansyslmd) EXITING DUE TO SIGNAL 28 Exit reason 5

      Thanks Alex

@solovievThe Vendor PORT can not be 2325. The ANSYS Interconnect uses that port.
Stop the License Manager. Make sure there are no processes running (ansyslmd, lmgrd, ansysli_server)
Change the Vendor Line to a TCP Port not being used.:
      We usually recommend:
      VENDOR ansyslmd PORT=1056
      Restart the License Manager

Thank you. I did this and the license manager was running. The issue with 2020 R2 remained so I am attempting to stop and restart the license manager once more to see if that resolves it, but the license manager will not stop, it just says:
2021/10/27 10:46:27: Error: Problems were encountered while attempting to stop the following process(es): ansysli_server.exe, ansysli_monitor.exe, ansyslmd.exe

      Thanks Alex

Use Task Manager to end process on the following, in order they are listed:
      ansysli_monitor
      ansysli_server
      ansyslmd.exe
      lmgrd.exe
Now, start the License manager.(Make sure you right click and open ANSYS License Management Center and choose->more->run as administrator)

Thanks, This resolved the issue for 2020R2.
I tested to ensure 2021R2 is also still working and got the following error with that version now:
ANSYS LICENSE MANAGER ERROR:Failover feature 'CFD Solver - Level 2' is not available.
FLEXlm server is not responding. Resource temporarily not available.
      ANSYSLI_SERVERS: 2325@OCE7533117
      FLEXlm Servers: 1055@OCE7533117

The license manager is already updated to 2021R2 and before I changed the license file just now to fix 2020R2, 2021R2 was working fine.
      Thanks Alex

verify that ansyslmd.exe is added to inbound and outbound firewall exceptions.
