Hello everyone.

 

i have download and installed ANSYS AIM student version like the installation format required.

 

i got into the ANSLIC_ADMIN UTILITY 19.1 and fixed all issues of licesnse.

 

now when i open ansys aim 19.1 i get the girsyt black screen with no apps, if i try to go to the study and project page to click on add for simulation or guided simulation it brings me back to the regular black first page with the liks to the 2 tutorials..

 

the error that im getting when i try to install app and choose the simulation templates wbex file i get the error:

 

 

System.Exception: Error while reading xml 'C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Studentv191AddinsAIMbinWin64TemplatesSimulationTemplates.wbex' : Root element is missing.

at Ansys.Study.UI.StartPage.StartPageMenus.BrowseInstallAndLoadExtensionOperation.Ansys.UI.Interfaces.IGuiOperation.Invoke(GuiOperationContext context)

pleas help me figure this isse.

Hi Eran,

You should not have to use ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility for ANSYS Student version as there is no need to configure any licensing, it's already included in your installation path. Do you also have any other ANSYS products installed on the machine ?

For the error that you see, try uninstall the product and rename (or delete) the folder 'ANSYS Student'  under C:Program FilesANSYS Inc

Then, reinstall the product again and make sure that you run the installer with 'run as administrator'

first of all i appreciate the will to help win, thanks!

at the beginning there was no ansys product installed ever before on my PC, after i installed as required i got the problem that i mentioned earlier which brings me to the first black background first page without all the templates.

after that i decided to uninstall the software and in addition i deleted the ANSYS INC folder from C and then i looked for every remains of the ansys installation and deleted them all.

then i installed again by using  run as administrator on the setup file and got the same result of the lack of templates shown in the part 1 video guide.

after that i tried to use the ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility and other "tricks" to get the templates but it didn't  worked at all.

at this moment i deleted fully every ansys aim student version and installed the discovery live software to get a little progress in the ansys learning.  

if you have any solution to my problem i would appreciate it very much.

Hi Eran,

Thank you for the info. This is now very likely a graphics issue.

What is the graphics card that you have on the machine ?

I downloaded ANSYS AIM STUDENT and followed the exact procedure of installation and also I disabled the windows defender after reading the few queries you solved. But Im unable to access ansys still. It shows an error "Error getting status: No SERVER lines in license file. (-13,66) " and if i open the workbench or mechanical apdl then i get an error " License path:  C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS StudentShared FilesLicensingstudent.lic;

 FlexNet Licensing error:-88,309"

please help me resolve this issue.

I have described the issue and resolution in there.

Let's fix this first and see if you still have issue with "No SERVER lines in license file". For ANSYS Student products/licenses, there is no SERVER lines in license file (C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS StudentShared FilesLicensingstudent.lic) it should only list INCREMENT lines.

Those that require SERVER lines on the license file are paid academic/commercial licenses/products.
