SubscriberHi all,
I'm currently having issues when importing some complex geometries from SpaceClaim to DesignModeler. The geometries create in Spaceclaim successfully, but when I export them (tried parasolidbinary and STEP file types), then import them into DesignModeler, there are issues with the geometry such as missing parts. I've attached an example screenshot. First one is DM, second is SC

Ansys EmployeeSpaceClaim uses ACIS geometry kernel and DM uses parasolid. So geometry is converted from one algorithm to another. So there is some loss of information. So this is expected. nWhy do you want to take geometry to DM from SpaceClaim? Any specific reasons?nRegards,nKeyurnHow to access Ansys Online Help DocumentnHow to show full resolution imagenGuidelines on the Student CommunitynHow to use Google to search within Ansys Student CommunitynJanuary 27, 2021 at 11:55 pmDeepanKumar
SubscriberHi Keyur,nThanks for the reply. Initially the stent geometry is created in SpaceClaim using a script, but the simulations for testing it use DM as I'm more familiar with it.nThanksn nJanuary 28, 2021 at 12:03 pmKeyur Kanade
Ansys EmployeeOk. Try to split the geometry in SpaceClaim so that surfaces have more edges. Then export to DM. nPlease note that this does not guarantee perfect import in DM due to changes in geometry kernel mentioned in previous post. nRegards,nKeyurnHow to access Ansys Online Help DocumentnHow to show full resolution imagenGuidelines on the Student CommunitynHow to use Google to search within Ansys Student CommunitynJanuary 28, 2021 at 11:47 pmDeepanKumar
SubscriberHi Keyur,nThe wire frame the stent is made of is circular in shape - should I be splitting this into more surfaces or slicing cross sections of the whole cylinder?nThanks nViewing 4 reply threads- The topic ‘Issue importing geometry from Spaceclaim to DesignModeler’ is closed to new replies.
