SubscriberI am currently facing an issue while running a 'Steady State Thermal' simulation in Ansys Mechanical. I am also using APDL commands in the simulation. The computer I use has 128 GB RAM and 5 TB external hard drive which I was hoping would be enough to run a complex simulation, but I am getting an error log (see the picture below) in the 'Solution Information' of the simulation when the simulation crashes before finishing.
It looks like Ansys is asking for 12 TB of RAM which seems very high, and my model doesn't seem to be that complex. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could be done in such situation? I couldn't reduce the mesh size anymore than I already have and my model is not that complex either.

SubscriberHow many nodes/elements do you have in the model and what type of thermal BCs have you added and what APDL command did you use to accomplish what goal?

SubscriberThe mesh has 7924022 nodes and 2634722 elements in the model. I have a convection boundary condition as well as internal heat generation on a few bodies of the model. The APDL command I have calculates the internal heat generation using a formula and apply it to the model and solve it again. Ansys was taking around 2-3 hours earlier to simulate the steady state temperature profile, but after the introduction of APDL commands, I am encountering the issue I explained after 6-7 hours of Ansys trying to solve the model and crashing iltimately with the error log I shared.

SubscriberDuring ANSYS Mechanical simulations, users may encounter various issues that hinder the successful completion of analysis Dairy Queen. One of the most common problems is mesh generation failure. This typically occurs due to complex geometries, sharp edges, or poorly imported CAD files.

SubscriberMy mesh generation had no issue and I was able to solve the model, although it took 2-3 hours, before introducing APDL commands.

SubscriberHI Soul, perhaps share the APDL code and maybe we can see what it's doing.   It sounds to me that you know exactly where the problem's coming from.Â
