SubscriberI am interested in learning about techniques and methods that can be used to determine the residual stress distribution within a spherical or sphere-like structure. Specifically, I would like to understand how data on the surface geometry of sectioned samples taken from the structure can be utilized to calculate or estimate the complete three-dimensional residual stress field throughout the interior of the object.
Given that directly measuring internal stresses is often impractical or impossible, I am curious about indirect methods that can infer the interior stress state from more easily obtainable surface measurements.Â

SubscriberDo you know about Inverse Analysis that is available in Ansys?
I believe it is limited to a linear analysis but maybe you can derive some benefit from that capability.
