Hi all,
I'm reaching out to seek clarification regarding the extraction and interpolation of velocity data for DPM (Discrete Phase Modeling) post-processing based on a Fluent case. Specifically, I aim to display the velocity experienced by the particles along their trajectories. To achieve this, I understand that I need to extract velocity data and perform interpolation akin to DPM.
My current understanding is that I should obtain velocity data co-located at the face centers and then conduct a linear interpolation for each component. Could someone kindly confirm if my understanding is accurate? Additionally, could you advise on the specific variables I should use to extract the velocity data?
I appreciate any guidance or insights you can provide on this matter. Thank you for your assistance. Best regards,
XS

You could extract the DPM track and get the particle velocity from that. Or do you need the cell values. You need to be a little more careful defining what you want, DPM Velocity (per track), DPM Velocity (per cell) or fluid velocity per cell.Â
You may find some of the definitions here helpful  https://ansyshelp.ansys.com/account/Secured?returnurl=/Views/Secured/corp/v241/en/flu_ug/flu_ug_fvdefs.html Also, post processing for DPM is covered in the User's Guide.Â
