Interference due to Thermal Shrinkage and Expansion.

      Hello, new to ANSYS and running into a dead end with a simulation.

      I have two plastic cylinders of different materials. The inner cylinder is at 22 C and the outer cylinder is at 180 C. I want to simulate the heat transfer between the two cylinders and also the resulting interference pressure due to shrinkage of the outer cylinder as it cools, and expansion of the inner cylinder as it heats up. Can this be set up as 2D Axisymmetric problem?


      As a second stage.

      Can the interface pressure or the results be then used to simulate the sliding motion of the cylinders?

      I have the thermal expansion co-effiecents for both the materials.

      This is quite an advanced analysis and not something one would start of with when learning a software.
      I would recommend our basic course in getting started with mechanical, a thermal course, and the contact course that we offer:

      Once you have takens, I would recommend to move on to a more advanced analysis (in theory what you want to do should be possible at least in 3D and one can also use symmetry to reduce the model size)
