Initial curvature simulation

      Hello,

I want to create a Static Structural model of a 1D beam, with only a moment at the tip. Once obtaining the deformation (purple line below), I want to take that deformation as the "initial shape" or initial geometry to another static structural model, where I will exert a force and will get the final deformation (turquoise line below). How can I take the deformation from the first model as an input to the second? Thanks very much for your assistance.

      Hi

We need to do this in 2 load steps inside a single static system.

Step1: apply moment and no force

Step2: keep moment and add force.

See here how to define multiple load steps

One can also do it all in one load step, with a tabular force with a moment being ramped say from 0-1 sec. while force is zero during that time, and then the force is ramped up from 1-2 seconds while moment is kept constant during that time.

      All the best

      Erik

That is great - thanks for the feedback.

As it might be useful to others doing a similar analysis, we will close the post.

      All the best

      Erik
